Kuwait makes out better at Uqair

At the Uqair Convention in which the boundaries of today's Kuwait and Saudi Arabia were set/imposed by the British High Commissioner to Iraq Percy Cox (a friend of Ibn Saud), the Saudis managed to get 2/3 of Kuwait's territory. Kuwait was not given any input on the matter.

What if all of eastern Saudi Arabia north of al-Hasa and Qatif had remained part of Kuwait? Much of Saudi Arabia's oil would be Kuwaiti here. The loss of Kuwaiti territory was what caused anti-British sentiment in Kuwait to arise at the time that it did as well.

Well Kuwait has a lot more oil and Shias, not quite sure how that pans out. Also, rather than having any Uqair convention I'd go with the Kuwaitis managing to extract a renunciation of any Saudi claims to the area following the Kuwait-Najd War.

Also this has a pretty huge impact on Saudi Arabia, with its Royal Family being much less well insulated from dissent. Additionally if it has to rely more on pilgrims for revenue then there could be a break between the Royal Family and the Wahabi Ulama (which favours tearing down Islamic heritage sites).
