May 1st, 1984: Legendary Warner Bros. animator Bob Clampett suffers a minor heart attack, but is told he should make a full recovery.

August 11th, 1991: The Ren and Stimpy Show premieres on Nickelodeon as one of its first three "Nicktoons". Created by Canadian animator John Kricfalusi, the show centers around the exploits of a cantankerous chihuahua and his dimwitted cat friend. Kricfalusi was largely inspired by Golden Age Warner Bros. Cartoons when making the program, saying: "I wanted to make cartoons cartoony again."

August 13th, 1991: Clampett views the first episode of The Ren and Stimpy Show and writes a glowing review praising Kricfalusi's "impeccable timing, attention to high-quality, fluid animation and above all, pure fun and entertainment. I see a lot of potential in him."

August 29th, 1992: "Man's Best Friend", a season 2 episode of Ren and Stimpy premieres, causing widespread controversy, particularly due to a scene toward the end of the episode when Ren savagely beats the character George Liquor with an oar. Kricfalusi lands in hot water with Nickelodeon and they consider firing him.

September 2nd, 1992: After intense negotiation and monetary settlements are reached, Nickelodeon allows John Kricfalusi to continue working on Ren and Stimpy in his current position.
