Krakatoa WI

What if Krakatoa waited to erupt until early 1942 just as the japanese were ready to land on the islands of Sumatra and Java.

Lets say the eruption starts prior to or on february 27 when the battle of Java sea was held and that the collapse of the volcano was such that the pyroclastic cloud that started the tsunami(according to new information) hit a japanese task force

Which eruption the 1927 one or the 1883?

If it is the latter then it would not only wipe out the Japanese fleet but probably Singapore as well.

Not to mention the the eruption at this time would probably kill 50 million people and devastate the shipping along the Western Coast of Australia and the Indian ocean.

Bad time for GB as the supply convoys would be hit hard.
This event would probably sink more ships then all the Japanese and German raiders and u-boats combined.

Krakatoa in 1883 went up with the force of roughly 200 megatons.
serious boom boom. :)

Why would it do these things in 1942 when it didnt in 1883?????

The waves didnt sink every ship they encountered OTL. And that was when the waves were still high. Further away from the volcano the waves wouldnt be like in the Poseidonmovies but something like a ordinary way.

The taskforce the japanese had was big according to wikipedias info on the battle of Sunda straights. The allied taskforce was more or less wiped out with minimal losses to the japanese
