Known world to Japanese before European arrivals?

How much of the world were the Japanese aware of before the arrival of the first European explorers from Portugal and the Netherlands?

Did the Japanese know of India?

Are there any Japanese-made world maps from before the 17th century?

For sure the Japanese knew of India before the Europeans arrived, if only because they were aware that Buddhism originated there.

The Japanese knew of Korea and China prior to the 1500s.

No idea about maps....

Of course, Europeans have been aware of China existing since the Roman Era, but I'm more interested in knowing about whether the Japanese knew where India was, not just aware of it.

What was the Japanese name for India before adopting the English name?

天竺(Tenjiku), 身毒(Shindoku) and 印度(Indo), and no, they never adopted an English name, they are still using the last one sans the kanji. (which is also the one that's in use in modern Chinese, pronounced Indu)

A very few knew of Europe, but may have believed in the Roman Emprie still being around. Most knew nothing (because of feudalism), but many Nobels kne of Hokkaido and other islands. They knew of coastal China dn Korea, but only as the 'edge' of their consciousness.
