I will throw up a barrier to the criticism of "the Beatles were going to break up no matter". The Beatles were never going to break up until they finally did, because the members all thought of themselves as defined as Beatles. When Lennon left, even, despite Harrison and McCartney feuding, there was consideration of going forward without Lennon. Being independent people was weird to them until it finally happened. So it is possible. The group dynamic was volatile shortly after Brian Epstein's death, but each of them really thought they would be Beatles in the band the Beatles because it was a foregone conclusion and they knew nothing else. It's like having a fight with your sibling; of course you'll still be family. That's not even a consideration. It was only once things finally did end that they realized it was over. And even then, they thought they would likely get together again at some point. And then it drifted between "there will never be a reunion" and "there'll probably be a reunion".
