My understanding is, the Ferguson was more/less a dead end, being too expensive & complicated (or requiring excess precision machining for a service weapon). Is there any chance its success nudges other armies towards breechloaders? Like, say, Lefaucheux's pinfire, or von Dreyse's?
I'd tend to say this really wants improved mobility of the enemy, first.
