Kings/Leaders Buried Under Rivers.

So far I have Alaric of the Goths (historical) and Leir of Britain (mythological). I'm wondering if there's a connection since Leir's interment is pretty atypical for a supposedly paramount leader in pre Roman Britain.

So... Can anyone name any other rulers, real or legendary, whose tombs are located under rivers (not in them, beneath them).

I can't remember whether Genghis Khan or Attila the Hun were buried under re-routed rivers, but I'm pretty sure one of them was.

That's because "Leir" of Britain is not a king, but a god of the sea.
Also it depends; some rulers have been thrown in rivers but that was because of a violent fall.

Meanders...

Uh, you also have the issue that river meanders migrate, and a riverside cenotaph may be undercut and sink beneath the surface.

IIRC, something like this happened on the Nile delta, where an entire palace complex foundered due to sand blows and liquefaction during an earthquake...

It was Attila. The burial party was then executed so that no-one could find the grave and its treasures.
