There are two sections. A proportionally elected National Section with 486 seats and a single seat-per-district (or ridings) Regional Section with 243 seats. In the National Section you vote for a party list while in the Regional Section you vote for candidates in a ranked-voting system.

SOCIAL DEMOCRATS TO FORM GOVERNMENT FOR THE FIRST TIME

QUEEN RIVKAH ASKS SDP PARTY LEADER MK AMIR BEN-AMIT TO LEAD HER NEXT GOVERNMENT
JERUSALEM DAILY NEWS

For the first time since the merger of the Judean Socialist Party and the far-left wing of the then Progressive Democratic Party (now the Progressive Party), the Social Democratic Party has won the largest portion of seats in the Commons and is now in a position to form a government. Queen Rivkah summoned the SDP Party Leader MK Ben-Amit to Mt. Scopus earlier today in order to deliver the request in person.

Since they began to emerge as the likely frontrunners for the 5771 general election, there has been much speculation over who would be asked to join the SDP in a government. With the official results in, the likely candidates for coalition (the Crown Loyalists, Progressives and Etz Chayim) would alone prove sufficient, though recent indicators suggest that the SDP will attempt to swell their ranks of supporters by bringing in some of the minor parties like the Arab Advocates (currently the eighth largest party in the Commons with 23 seats) and the Judean Patriots (ninth with seven seats).

Even more interesting is what face the Honorable Opposition will take. Given the pledge of “no coalition under any circumstances” with the National Socialists, it is likely the Judean right wing will align itself as an opposition block behind the Conservatives, even though the JNS will have more seats, leading to a split opposition that the new government may be able to play off against one another.
