Kingdom of God on Earth-An Alternate History.

29 January 1494
Prologus

The news of the death of Ferdinand I of Naples' have reached Rodrigo Borgia,or more commonly known as Pope Alexander VI's ears. There it goes.A king, that is..well,despite it opened a way for more conquest,it will attract Charles VIII of France to move his claims.Having the French as a neighbor,if that happens, will conflicts against ALL personal goals that Alexander VI have now.

Through cantarella,Alexander VI have created a network of darkness across Europe, feeding the man with information, money, and supplies. Also through cantarella, that Alexander VI have cemented the all-omnipotent and powerful influence of the Papal State on the diplomatic stage.

Under the cross,Alexander VI also waged wars, physically and psychologicallly against his enemy, again for his own cause. With his dynasty now singlehandedly ruled the whole Catholic world, all power is on his hands, unlimited powers, gained through the dark means he did to obtain it.

Now,he knew that sooner or later,Charles VIII will pull an invasion against the state, and tearing down his reign apart, and the north shall tremble, and show their cowardice upon the sight of France's advancement. But Alexander VI is not a stupid man.Embracing the inevitable,Alexander VI contacted the HRE,the English, and the Spaniards, plus the portuguese about a slightly-modified version of the recent events.

Alexander, was able to secure a temporary alliance with these nations.
At the time when they moved to Milan, where Il Moro joined him,Charles asked if his army can pass Rome.Knowing Charles will planning something REAL bad,Alexander allowed him..out of a carefully-devised trap.

Charles quickly moved southward, and after a short stay on Florence,he then heads to rome.
The trap works. The Orsini, being a snake to the people of Italy since the begginning, surrendered their castles out of fear.

Now,Alexander called his allies to ready themselves, and on 30th December, where Charles's forces are just few inches from Rome...

Charles VIII,Il Moro, and The Orsini family are excomunicated, declared as heretics. The news strikes europa real hard, and confusion takes place. What was the pope drinking? But,that agitates few people on Italy,Spain, and even mainland France, prompting them to attack the "heretic" forces.

In the name of Jesus, the kingdoms of Spain,HRE,England, quickly put their differences aside, and invaded Charles VIII's land on 31 December 1494.Even few kingdoms also joined this actually-false-crusade against Charles VIII.Alexander VI allows Charles to enter the city, with a minimal-sized force.

Giulianno de la Rovelle and the French-backed cardinals smiled upon their so-called triumph against Alexander VI..but..a messenger interrupts the meeting.

"My majesty..You..have been excommunicated along with your allies, and you all are branded as heretic..and..and...the Spanish kingdoms, the Holy Roman Empire..and the English kingdom...they..are attacking your forces!"

The news startled the emperor, who is in rage, took a soldier's crossbow, and shot the Pope, who is arleady escaped the place unharmed.
Charles immidiately returned to France, pulling his forces back in order to fortify the defenses.

There you have it. Guess the POD.

Charles VIII, Il Moro, and The Orsini family are excomunicated, declared as heretics.

He can do that, but it won't be very effective. Other Popes excommunicated lots of people without doing much to them.

And other Kings won't be inclined to dog-pile on Charles just because the Pope says so. They have a common interest in not letting Popes shove Kings around.

Also, news travels slowly in the 1490s. Charles, camped at Rome, wouldn't hear about any invasions of France for at least two weeks. It's also not practical for several different realms to coordinate their attacks on the same day.

When he does hear about it, or about being excommunicated, his first action would be to occupy Rome and deal with Alexander. And no, I don't mean "make a deal with". It's what he can do immediately.

How about I state that Alexander arleady planned this when Ferdinand I dies?

2 Weeks later,on a small town on southern italy.
---------------------------------
Alexander, despite not able to sleep on his confy bed at Rome,is satisfied on his plan.He arleady planned this,long-even when Ferdinand I is still alive..hell! He arleady know that Charles will pull this! With the promises of salvation, and gold,Alexander is able to sway those kings into attacking Charles,a move that is truly shows lack of piety on everyone, including Alexander.

But he doesn't care! Anything for his coffer and family.Waiting for Cesare's report,Alexander's mind is filled with thoughts. How many cantarella is needed to root the snakes out? How many lives he need to kill only to serve his greed? At this time, the only thing he could think is to take down those familes who conspire against him. He could imagine the pleas of those who dares to oppose him,to oppose the papacy, and to oppose the so-called will of god he have promoted.

Suddenly,Cesare entered the room.
"Father,Charles have left the city, and he dispatched few groups to defend it...and..he have swayed few citizens to gather and defend the so-called new-papacy,led by that Della Rovelle bastard..."

"Cazzo!" His mind immidiately scattered into pieces. He couldn't hear anything, just static....just a mere static.

Regaining his mind back, there's only one option for him.All Italians are untrustable,no...the French, the Spaniards, the HRE,hell! Everyone is going to stab his back, today, tomorrow,or even few seconds from now! His goal is clear...he need to secure the Italian lands for the papacy, only for his safety.

"Cesare,we' need to capture Roma back, its our only choice, and send Giovanni to Venice,we need their help." Alexander replied.

Rome. And then Florence. All on his mind is conquering everything that stoods in his path. Charles? The Orsini? Medici? Everyone who opposed him must take a sip of his Cantarella poison. None shall oppose house Borgia, none shall oppose him.

Against Cesare's suggestion of wearing a Papal costume,Alexander decides to wear his old, classic black robe that he usually wears long before his ascendance to the papacy.
Its already weeks since the Della Rovelle takeover, and Charles were somehow, able to repel the British invaders, and put the HRE and the Spaniards on a stalemate, and Italy, northern Italy to be-exact,is still under French control.

But now,Cesare, with his condotierri army, with few Papal Guards who is still loyal to Alexander, waits at the countryside of Rome, looking over the French Armee.
"My son,is it time?" Rodrigo asked.
"We need to takeover those forts, and remember! Our priority is to capture Sant'angelo, and securing that place." Cesare replied.

Shortly afterward, they began to launch their operation.
Despite the French have a bigger numbers against the 3500-men condotierri army, the good'ol Cantarella and gold diplomacy works, causing mass desertions, defections, and even-mass poisonings happened, when the Borgia troops decided to test the Cantarella on the water source.

5 days later, much of the city are captured..but...the Papal District, suddenly turned into a fortified line of defense. The citizens of Rome, most of them, are now turned into minions of the Della Rovelle papacy.

But now,who answers for the Della Rovelle papacy is a heretic, and a enemy to Alexander VI,so he decided to use the cannons, and shelled the line of defenses, till it scattered and broken. After the breakthrough, the Borgias entered,nd proceeds. Lay waste.

Cesare,10 Papal Guards, and Alexander entered the Castel D'santangelo.
To ensure that Della Rovelle can't escape from this city,Cesare arleady ensured that every means to escape is closed off.

Managed to corner Della Rovelle by himself,Rodrigo decides to execute the man with the Papal Staff, bringing Alexander back to the Papacy.

Birth of the Order

Rome.Pictured above is a Borgia agent,climbing a tower.
The capture of Rome spells fortune for the papacy, but still,it stirs few problems.During the French's short stay on the city, they managed to..sway the populace into minions of Della Rovelle, and thus,Alexander only got one..choice.
He created an organization, that will forever will be the Papacy's greatest defender, and follower. This organization, which Alexander concepted as something more....elite and vigilant than the Papal Guards,is tasked to hunt, and kill the enemies of the Papacy, and Catholicism..........and the Borgias,of course.

Immidiately after the organization's creation, massive strings of murders, dissapearance occured, but strangely ignored by the Papacy itself.
Now,Alexander's eyes are set for Siena.

Godbless him,and the Papacy.

Wow. This is impressive. It caught my attention because I mentioned as a joke in one of my timelines a place called "The Kingdom of God on Earth," but I see that you came up with the exact same name before I did. My KoGoE was a future dystopian Neo-Confederate ultraconservative American South.
