Kingdom of Denmark

I think the best way would be to let Frederik VI die earlier (maybe around1820), which would bring Christian VIII on the throne while he still "young" and reform friendly, the lack of the popular Frederik VI would also make a revolution in 1830 more likely, which could result in democratic reform before Nationalism became a dominating factor (and before Frederik VII could fuck it up), and while people still had a positive view of "helstats Danmark". Beside that Frederik VII need either to be more fertile (one his two first wife need to produce a heir) or he need a brother to inherite the throne.

But you still have the problem of German Nationalism and the Rittershafts unwillingness for democratic reform - well more the latter than the former.

That can be turned into something positive, by making them the common enemy of "Democracy", someone both Danes and Germans can hate as "the enemy of the people". While German nationalism as a political force was still in its infancy at the time.

Problem: The Ritterschaft had quite a say regarding the ruling of the Duchies. To change this you'd have to change the Ribe constitution of 1460 and for uniting the Kingdom and the Duchies the London agreement of 1850.
But I suppose there is no 1848 war in this ATL.

If you are to rally German Nationalists - Students Movement at this time to counter the Ritterschaft the Danish King probably have to appear as a GERMAN King. Could perhaps work pre-1848.

A 1830 revolution could work, it's too early to piss of the Danish nationalists, because Danish nationalism is only in the creation phase. The Damish king seen as a German king, I guess that not impossible especially with the slightly larger German population, but I think some kind of trouble is unavoidable, but if it could be kept as a few streetbattles rather than a full civil war, it would help.
