Kingdom of Cyprus.

I'm curious as to how the kingdom would have developed had it lasted perhaps a few generations longer. Greek had already replaced French as the main language of the island by 1450. But what remained of the nobility was still nominally Roman Catholic. Could a Venetian dynasty had taken over from the Lusignans?

In OTL, the Venetians did take over Cyprus as a colonial possession unless you want a Venetian noble family to move to the island and eventually establish separate dominion over it.

I meant that the kingdom actually survives for a time after 1489. Perhaps this could have occured if the infant son on James II and Caterina Cornaro had lived, or if James II had survived for perhaps another 15-20 years, and had more children by Caterina. He was only about 33 when he died.

That and a competent Cypriot ruler would need to balance the interests of Venice, the Ottomans and whoever runs Egypt (and as well as the locals)
