What if this massive war had been avoided? Prior to the war, Native Americans made up 30% of the population of New England, both "Praying Indians" and tribal groups. Relations between colonist and indian were not too bad, though they were on the downturn (which helped provoke the war).
This would need an earlier POD than the start of the war, of course... King Philip was definately planning for war, by selling off all the Pokanoket Indian lands outside of Mount Hope and even the fishing rights- the main source of food- to buy weapons from the colonists. Is it possible for Philip and the colonists to reach an agreement earlier and for relations between the colonists and the Indians to continue as in the past?
