King Pedro of Spain

Throughout the reign of Ferdinand VII there were some Spanish Liberals who had tried to offer the throne to Pedro I. The reason he rejected those schemes was because he wanted to consolidate his power in Brazil. This would probably require a Napoleonic POD before the Portuguese court fled to Brazil but ignoring this flaw then how would Pedro rule Spain? Would the Spanish accept him, would Spain and Portugal be united, and how would this affect the Liberal and Carlist Wars?

I'd imagine that the Portuguese wouldn't like the thought of being dominated by Spain. It probably wouldn't last long.

In fact the only chance to survive (if just for a time) is a very ( but very ) bad relation with post Napoleonic France, with a lot of "Rhetoric of hate" etc.

But yes, not viable at long term ...

It would be easier to have Pedro getting the Crown of Spain but with another Braganza (directly related: a sibling or an heir, like his daughter, D. Maria II) getting the Crown of Portugal.
