King Edward I Canmore, King of Scotland

I do have this idea floating around in my head, where Edward Canmore, eldest son of Malcolm III and St Margaret does not die in 1093 and instead survives to aid his brother Duncan II in his fight against Donald Bane, and if Duncan dies in say around 1095, Edward would then take up the claim against his uncle, eventually winning and displacing his uncle in 1098.

I am tempted to ahve it be Edward, influenced by his mother to remove tanisty and to install the succession by promigenture

I am also considering having Edward ensure a stronger Celtic church, thus preventing a bringing in of continental ideas and such.

Edward Canmore, born in 1071 was the eldest son of King Malcolm III of Scotland and his second wife Queen Margaret. Captured at the battle of Alnwick in 1093, Edward is forced by William Rufus to recognise his older brother Duncan as the rightful King of Scotland, and once he has sworn fealty he is freed.

The two brothers then begin making plans to reclaim their home from their uncle Donald Bane, who during the chaos following Malcolm's death and Edward's capture has seized the throne and has been crowned at Scone, and with his allies is currently laying siege to Edinburgh castle.

With aid from men from Northumbria, and mercenaries as well as men from Strathclyde and Galloway who have begun chafing under Donald's rule, Duncan and Edward march north. Leading to the Four years war which lasts between 1093-1097, ending when Donald Bane and the last of his supports are killed.
