King Charles and Mademoiselle

Recently I was reading a bit on La Grande Mademoiselle, and I came across something of interest: apparently, during his time in exile at the court of the young King Louis XIV, Mademoiselle was proposed as a possible for wife for King Charles II of England. I'm just curious as to why nothing came of this match, and also, if such a thing were to happen, what would be the effects?

Just curious...

Basically because when the first offer of marriage was made Charles II was still a refugee, and she refused to marry a man who couldn't hold a throne. They had a very odd encounter back in 1649, when no one of them talked to each other, and she actually needed to invite a third person to eat with them in order to break the silence. Charles then developed an intense dislike of her, and when some proposals were discussed again back after his restoration he refused to even consider the possibility of the marriage. And La Grande Mademoiselle also said that having refused him while he was a refugee she could hardly accept him in his moment of triumph, because if she did her earlier refusals would make the marriage forever unhappy.
