Beatty's flagship HMS Lion took a hit to a forward turret at Dogger Bank in 1915. This caused a fire which was put out before it could reach the magazines. If the butterflies intervened and the shell hit a bit further back and took out Beatty OR the fire reached the magazines and blew the ship up what would the consequences be for the rest of the war?

If Beatty went without his ship who would take over the BCF and would its performance at Jutland be better as regards signals and ammunition handling procedures to avert loss of ships? Or would the loss of Beatty mean the BCF wasn't driven to get to grips with the HSF so Jutland was butterflied away totally or happened at a different time? How inevitable was the clash of dreadnoughts?

If the Lion went would that discredit the battle cruiser earlier? Early enough to get Refit and Repair cancelled or modified on the slipways? Would Hood be butterflied away? Would procedures be changed as regards use of the battle cruisers and ammunition handling drill in the BCF?
