Kidnaping German Generals

In April 1944 a group consisted of 2 SAS agents and several local resistance fighters kidnaped the German Commander of Crete General Heinrich Kreipe (actually General Muller was the original target but he was replaced by Kreipe a few days before the kidnaping)
After a dangerous operation the kidnaping was successfull and the captured General was shipped off to Egypt.

I wonder after this success would the Allies have authorised more kidnapings of German Generals and give Hitler and Germans a morality hit?
And if they authorised more kidnapings who would be their next targets?

Killing of Germans generals / officials in occupied territories could be easier... But the costs for the civilian population will be awful as demonstrated by the Lidice slaughter in 1942 after the execution of Heydrich.

The French Communists organized a campaign of assassination against german high rank officers in Paris but they stopped after heavy reprisals against civilians and after the capture and the executions of these commandos, the famous Manouchian group from the Red Poster...

I agree... But kidnaping General Kreipe had a moral impact on Germans in Crete... I guess that if a more prestigious General like Rommel would be kidnaped under Germans noses would have a terrible impact on German army's morale in Europe and Russia...

There was a standing order in 1944 for the SAS to try to take Rommel alive. I suspect Churchill given his high opinion of him wasn't willing to go for the other options they considered at the time which would have either bombed the place he was staying to the ground or to go for a Bin Laden type kill not capture mission.
