Suppose Nixon was pitted against a less influential Democratic candidate in 1960 and is elected president (1961-1969). Then, once Nixon finishes his terms, Henry Cabot Lodge Jr. runs for president but loses to John F. Kennedy (1969-1971). JFK is president for almost three years until he is assassinated, resulting in Lyndon B. Johnson succeeding him (1971-1977?). How would this transposition of presidencies differ from OTL? There would probably be no Cuban Missile Crisis, but how would Nixon handle the first phase of Vietnam? Civil Rights would come in the early 1970s rather than the mid-1960s. How would Johnson handle the second phase of Vietnam? Would Ronald Regan be the one to defeat LBJ in the election of 1976 and if so, how would he handle rest of Vietnam? This transposition of presidencies would probably butterfly away Jimmy Carter and Gerald R. Ford. Any other political/historical changes that might result in this transposition?
