Keeping Up with the Cardassians

When I first heard of the TV program "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," I thought it was "Keeping Up with the Cardassians." The Cardassians are a particularly unpleasant race from the Star Trek universe, for those of you who aren't familiar with the Trekverse.

So WI someone with clout got the idea of a faux reality show set in the Trekverse?

Some stuff in the actual TV shows has a very reality-TV feel to it, such as the Cardassian taking a call from his daughter while torturing Captain Picard.

You know whats funny, when I first saw the thread I thought it said Keeping up with the Calrissians. I was wondering what ol Lando was up to these days

I've always found the Cardassians (certainly not the Kardashians) sexy, in a disturbingly bony kind of way. Especially Gul Ducat... And his daughter.

Maybe it's those bony ridges around the eyes... Triggering my Bale-lust.

Back on topic...

Well, not sure about a series... But it'd be a nice counterpoint to those Star Wars spin-offs, like the one where cameras follow Stormtroopers for a day in the life, etc. In fact, loyal Trekkies are doing us a great disservice by not already doing so!

(Unless Star Wreck counts).

They'd be fired :p

Star Trek Exec: How dare you try and drag reality into this! We let you be a little bit depressing in DS9, but no more! And you can do that shakey cam bullshit somewhere else!

Ron Moore: Fine! I'll just go to Sci-Fi and do a realistic show!

...so, that's my thought on it. They could've done it had they let Ron Moore run a Star Trek show like he ran Battlestar Galactica, all interweaving plotlines and docu-style camera work. Though lord knows if the fans would put up with it. Just look at the SGU threads here to see what happened when that franchise went that route.

Did Trek ever do episodes like that?
Most series have done...but I'm struggling to remember a Trek example, the Stargate one done where the doctor lady dies keeps coming to the fore

Most Trek episodes have multiple plot lines that may or may not meet at the end but nothing really documentary style. The closest I can think of is "In The Pale Moonlight" but not even that really.

EDIT: Yay, 1,000th post!!!

It could be a way to keep the franchise active cheaply.

News on the development of the verse could be dropped here and there as background, to help keep up interest.
