Keeping Elizabeth II as Queen....

How do we think it would have been possible to keep Queen Elizabeth II as Queen of as many of the countries that make up the Commonwealth as possible in a situation similar to Canada and Australia i.e. no direct link to the UK is necessary.
I think Singapore, Malta and Fiji are probably the easiest to imagine but what about others especially countries like Pakistan, South Africa, Nigeria etc. Is it at all possible and if so what would it take?

Well it wouldn't have happened in Pakistan due to the Islamic Republic being formed. Also I think the National government in South Africa became a republic as part of its Apartheid policy and the international reaction to this.

Perhaps if the UK offered some kind of 'bonus aid' to African countries for keeping the monarchy that could work, not sure why Britain would feel the need to do this though.

Sorry. Dont understand you here. Sure lots of countries became republics. Whats special about pakistan? Ok, you say islamic republic. Well thats a pretty strange beast as islam was historically in monarchies. So, its not that its islamic thats a problem, nor really that its a republic. So what IS the problem?

How many Islamic kingdoms, of their own accord and design, had an infidel (non-Muslim) as their monarch?

Technically She still is Queen of Fiji since the government there isn't officially recognised. However She no longer claims the title; interestingly the armed forces and police still have Royal insignia and titles.

I've read that both the government and most Fijians would like Her back as Head of State, but that is dependent on official recognition of the government.

One would have to be quite the monarchist to capitalise 'Her' and 'She' when referring to the Queen :p Okay it appears that way in official text and legislation, but I wouldn't think it'd be used on an informal alt-his forum.

Persia under the Ilkhanids, though "their own accord" is debatable at best.
However, some Islamic Law authorities allowed for such a thing, including al-Ghazali. Ilkhanid rule before Ghazan Khan's conversion was (begrudgingly) deemed lawful by many Muslims there.
So it would be technically possible for Elizabeth to remain nominalli Queen of Pakistan, easier if she recognized the place as an Islamic state, but probably this won't very popular among Pakistanis, or better said, among the minority of Pakistanis which cares.
The obvious way, however, would be no partition, giving India as whole Dominion status. Elizabeth might retain the title of Qaysar-i Hind, of course without any actual power in Indian politics.

A nonislamic head of state that is a pure symbol would, as mentioned, be a problem. But, give royal powers are essentially nonexistant and the local GG is presumably going to be a local muslim, i dont think it would be insurmountable. In fact pakistan staying a dominion while india goes republic might help pakistans status with the west, particularly the white bits of the commonwealth.
