Katyn slaughter a good Nazi propaganda tool?

IIRC Churchill ordered the news of the Katyn massacre to be kept secret from the Polish Government-in-Exile, I could very well be wrong on that account though as I'm going from memory.

If that actually was the case then maybe if the Polish resistance fighters got word and proof to to the Polish government in London about the truth of it. We might then see some public statement from the Poles about the atrocities of Stalin. Though I personally doubt it.

But there are many an 'if', 'maybe' and 'might' in that hypothesis.

Polish Government in Exile knew that. When they asked Soviets about this, Stalin accused them to be nazi colaborators, broke diplomatic relations, and created his own puppet government in Moscow. Mysterious death of Sikorski near Gibraltar may also be connected to that.

Ah, now I remember thank you. Then we would need a larger and very public falling out, and the Poles getting their hands on unrefutable evidance (how the Poles are gettng that I have no idea though).

Something along the lines of a Polish witness with actual Photographs of the dead Polish officers with uniform markers still visible getting to London, might do it. Followed by a large fight between the Polish government and Churchill in which Churchill forbids the Poles to bring it up. The Poles tries to go public in Great Britain but is stopped by the British censurship.

But what would happend after that? It's spring of -43, rather late to have any real influence to be honest, I don't think the Poles could have done more then huff and puff. Perhaps an sharply increased resistance towards the Soviet occupat.... sorry 'liberation' of Poland, no Warsaw uprising against the Germans perhaps? The Poles want the Soviets to bleed further,

Honestly you need an earlier PoD, like the Germans finding the massgraves during Barbarossa and it goes public in the USA, then you 'might' see some greater effects of it

The germans knew all about the Katyn massacre as soon as it happened . However , it was not until 1944 that they decided to use it as a propaganda tool , both to forment anti-communism in the west and try to incite the Poles to at least put up a token resistance against the soviets . Sadly there are still die-hard communists in my country that see Katyn as an anti-soviet conspiracy...
