Kashmir in India?

Say that the Maharaja acts decisively and decides to join India instead of prevaricating. So that by August Kashmir joins with India instead of waiting till the rebellion in October. How does this affect Indo-Pak relations? India’s development? Do India and Pakistan still go to war perhaps over East Pakistan? What about Chinese and Indian relations?

It'd be a stupid decision because giving all of the former princely state of Jammu and Kashmir to one country in this conflict is stupid. Pakistan always wanted Kashmir, because it was one of the Muslim-majority areas in India. I don't know why you think that all of J&K going to India would somehow make everything all nice and happy, the only way to make India-Pakistan relations somehow better than OTL is by having Jammu and Kashmir being partitioned into Non-Muslim and Muslim parts (Non-Muslim areas go to India, Muslim areas go to Pakistan) as it was about to until the Maharaja overreacted and decided to accede to India.

Also, it is Jammu and Kashmir, not just "Kashmir", Kashmir is just some valley.

I do not thinking giving all of J&K to the India would make everything nice and happy. I still would assume war breaks out between the two nations due to Pakistans desire to own it but I was wondering whether war would break out in 1947 or does it occur later but I think war was inevitable. I was assuming the majority of the province in the event of war would remain Indian in the event of peace I was wondering how this area would develop. Would it be as heavily militarised? would there be any repression by India? would China still take parts of the province?

Pakistan might try to influence the Muslims there to revolt as they did IOTL, so maybe India goes to war with Pakistan because of this in say, 1953? Then again, Nehru might try to cut out a deal with the Muslim rebels.

India already has been engaging in a terrible policy when it comes to Kashmir, so if there is still a Kashmir insurgency and if there still is a dispute it might still be.

would China still take parts of the province?

Unless they don't take Tibet I don't see why not.
