Kalmar Queen of England

In 1401-1405 Henry IV of England and Margarethe I of Denmark were in talks of binding England and the Kalmar Union closer together diplomatically by marrying Henry V and his sister Philippa to Erik and Katharina of Pomerania.

However, Margarethe found the stakes unagreeable and only allowed Erik to marry Philippa, their only child was stillborn, and Henry V married Catherine de Valois.

So besides no Henry VII, what would the other effects of the Kalmar Union and England bound by marriage be. And for interests sake say Erik and Philippa were more successful as far as kids were concerned.

Well, the problem with the Kalmar Union was that even when bound by marriage and treaties, that didn't keep noblemen in its constituent countries from outright ignoring that they were part of a union. Part of the problem stemmed from that none of the countries were actually hereditary monarchies at the time they entered the Union, and the Scandinavian kingdoms first became hereditary long after the Kalmar Union was officially dissolved. Hence, you would have a king die, the Danes electing one king, the Swedes another and you'd end up with a couple of years of civil wars. During some parts of the era involved it is actually quite difficult to establish who was really king where and when.

I fear that the only thing that would happen if you added England to this explosive mixture would be an even more rapid dissolution of the Union. Still, it is not at all implausible that a personal union between Denmark and England remains in force once the Kalmar Union ends.
