No. Even a pro-Japanese PSA ruling over a gutted America is eventually going to outstrip Japan even if literally everything goes right for Japan. The USA simply has too much in terms of resources and geographical advantages.

The Mississippi Basin is OP. It's a fantastically vast amount of arable land surrounded by resource-rich mining regions and the fabulously productive Great Lakes region, which is just about the perfect base for an industrial buildup.

You put Great Lakes + Mississippi Basin + two coasts of trading opportunities + Appalachians into one country, you have a nigh-unstoppable juggernaut.

To be entirely honest re US vs Japan, that depends on the Second Civil War. A bad Second Civil War could ruin America as an economic power for a long time to come.

No, it would still exist. It would probably be less elitist, at least for a time, but things like fashion trends and such would still exist and have an industry to cater to their desires.

I think it works well in terms of narrative, allows the French a sort of Sudetenland-esque land grab(because a lot of the time Geneva and Romandy come along for the ride) and as Switzerland it let’s you become the Black Spot of Europe.

It's not a random land grab, they had a right to do so under some post-Napoleonic treaty that OTL was only revised after WW1, and in Kaiserreich this never happens, so the Swiss enact their authority to defend their neutrality in upper Savoy.

Yes I am aware it was part of a treaty but does it make sense for Switzerland to enact that part of the treaty

There's a violent revolution in France and radical socialists are taking over. Seizing defensive positions in the Alps and make Geneva less dangerously exposed isn't such a bad idea.
