Kaiserreich: Legacy of the Weltkrieg

Which honestly makes sense(and tbh doesn’t detract from my enjoyment of playing them that much because I usually go Savinkov as Russia anyway)
I don't, but I've also been playing the mod since the days when it was Wrangel who was the popular option...and frankly, anyway, I always liked the choices you had as Russia in the mod.

Russia is officially the "main villain" of Kaiserreich. The rework has Savinkov in power from the start, effectively making Russia the 1:1 copy of Nazi Germany.
While there is a of course a chance of this being April joke, I do have to say I like these changes and find them quite logical.

I mean, considering the utter failure and later irelevance of Kerensky OTL, his position as the leader of Russia frankly never made much sense to me. And considering the sheer losses and trauma, both from WW1 and the civil war, a revenge oriented extremely nationalistic regime makes quite a lot of sense to already be in power.

Russia being the big bad wolf(or bear, rather) looming over Europe just fits so well.

On a side note, my last UOB game was a massive Germany-screw.....both Flanders-Wallonia/Belgium and the Netherlands went syndicalist, while White Ruthenia and Ukraine both sided with Russia.

The Kaiserreich lasted six months.

Look Kerensky as a president never made any sense!

I meant to post this in How realistic is Kaissereich setting thread, but it's too old, so i decided to post it here instead:
1) There need to be a distraction(s) for Germany to keep it from utterly dismembering France ; Possibly the continuing war in Italy *a near implosion of Austro-Hungary should keep them from interfering in France until it's to late.

2) Germany shouldn't own Indochina which should still belong to France and Britain, German African holdings should also be somewhat reduced, Colonies would be only hope for a comeback. French should retain the majority of theirs and British should hold everything outside Africa.

3) Italy instead of Italian federation there would be three factions at start: The northern puppet Kingdom of Lombardia Veneto ran by Habsburgs, Italian Social republic a syndicalist state. and Kingdom of Italia which hold Sardinia and Sicilia

4)Russia instead the Russian civil war being over have the White controlling European Russia and Soviets still controlling parts of Siberia justifying the existence of Transamur Republic.

5) Marxism isn't discredited and it's in fact a primary ideological justification for Totalism. Socialism may take many forms from moderate social democrats to mainline Unionist Syndicalism, Agrarian Socialism, Totalism,Marxism and even Anarchism.

6) Britain has a linger war In Ireland, attempted intervention in France and general unrest withing the colonies and eventually a moderate socialist labor government comes to power which triggers a Red Scare and the government is couped d by reactionary Right and Military, but then a left counter coup triggers the British Revolution and Syndicalists win. Totalist under Mosly soon take power making Britain the primary representative of Totalism. UoB also has friendly relations with Ireland which is an unofficial intermediary between it and non socialist world explaining the lack of a Royalist Ulster.

7) Socialist Democrats are represented by a Spanish Republic in which a broad leftist coalitions ranging from Marxist, Syndicalists and even Anarchists and Liberals manage to win the alternate Spanish civil war with foreign aid and Socialist volunteers. The Second Socdem power would be Scandinavian Union(Norway, Iceland, Sweden and Finland) which is only nominally socialist but wishes to protect itself from German, British and Russian intervention and For Norway and Iceland also keep Denmark at bay.

8) Mexico represents the Agrarian socialists
9)American Syndicalism is a different and more concert with social, racial and gender equality and it could eventually win if it manages to draw a large enough base of social support.

Look Kerensky as a president never made any sense!
No, but the dynamic situation in Russia at the start of the game was attractive from a gameplay sense...you had a lot of options about what to do and you could steer Russia in more (or less) positive directions than IOTL with relative ease.

My understanding of the current lore is that Germany's gains in France and Belgium weren't limited by any distraction, but rather the need to reach peace with Britain that wasn't going to accept excessive German gains in the West. After that I think Germany was initially neutral to almost friendly to the French Syndicalists because they were tearing what was left of the French government apart, it wasn't until several years later that French Syndies and Germans went back to reciprocal sabre-rattling.

2) Germany shouldn't own Indochina which should still belong to France and Britain, German African holdings should also be somewhat reduced, Colonies would be only hope for a comeback. French should retain the majority of theirs and British should hold everything outside Africa.
I think Indochina was gained by Germany in the official peace deal after WW1 where they basically got very little in Western Europe and instead got to take over French colonies, and in any case I don't think National France is going to have the ability to hold on such a far territory while the metropole is falling to the Syndies. Same thing for the British, how are they going to keep their colonial empire together when the Home Islands are in chaos?

Furthermore, Germany taking over the colonial empires of the other major nations is kind of a necessary stepping point to get Germany to become the main world power it's supposed to be in the mod, so getting rid of that is going to kinda screw with the fundamentals of Kaiserreich I think.

A military coup in Britain sounds even more implausible than the revolution honestly.

Assuming the Russia changes are real, I quite like them. This version seems to lean into having Savinkov serve as the potential leader of a NatPop group in Eurasia, which should spice things up from having Russia align with the three already existing big three factions a lot of the time. It also ensures that there’s a plausible way for the other factions in Russia to come to power, which is cool. My one concern is that this rework feels like it’s leaning a bit on throwing more parallelism into KR, which is a trend I’ve noticed in the lore as of recently (most notably, the UoB seems to be alluding to vague parallels to the USSR). KR has a pretty compelling and unique scenario and I personally think throwing too much parallelism into the mix takes away from its more interesting elements.

The Russian rework (which I think it's safe to say it's real, because if that was a joke it was drier than the Sahara and too good for its own good) looks pretty interesting.

Savinkov gets to power in 1934 (reinforcing the Hitler parallels and how he got to power in 1933), but Russia is still nominally and practically a democratic republic due to Savinkov's inability to force his most radical reforms through the senate (so, also making Savinkov's rise to power more distinct from just a copy of Hitler's). Russia can still go down every possible political path, from Tsarist to Democratic to Socialist (and I assume that military dictatorship is almost certainly in the cards too, with Kolchak now being back in the mix), but Savinkov needs to lose the power struggle that Russia will face in the early game, which is reasonable enough and keeps the substance of old Kaiserreich Russia being the most open-ended nation in the mod alive, which is what I think mattered the most.
Also, it kinda addresses the "Russia wouldn't have enough time to gear up for war after two decades of slow civilian industrialization under Kerensky", which should make Russia being a major power in the war have more substance behind it.

Transamur and Don-Kuban don't exist at the game's start, but will arise during the course of the game. Nobody knows how and whether this will be something inevitable or avoidable, but suggests that Russia will face considerable internal issues at the start of the game (probably connected with Savinkov trying to force his radical reforms and meeting a lot of opposition). I'm hoping Transamur and Don-Kuban will be well fleshed out and viable nations, not just optional afterthoughts, and that Japan will have an option to snag Vladivostok inside their sphere of influence.

What I'm wondering now is whether Wrangel is still going to have its niche tsarist path (which I hope it does because that's both old legacy content I'm fond of and Russian napoleon is too cool to lose) and whether anything changed in Central Asia with Alash Orda and Turkestan, since those two nations weren't referenced at all in the PR, but I guess we'll find out soon.

I took a crack at making a more plausible Kaiserreich map,
while keeping most of the major themes the same:
