(1) Wait until it goes on sale on Steam. Since you will have a better chance at convincing them to buy you something that is cheaper.

(2) Tell them that HOI4 helps you develop an interests in and learn more about world history.

(3) If they have doubts, show them some of the screenshots of the game with all the maps, charts, and numbers, and go, 'See? This is a great educational tool, and does not have things such as sexual or violent content that you might find objectionable at all!'.

Good luck! ;)
I can't wait to see the looks when his parents proudly proclaim he's learning about the historic Second American Civil War to their friends.

Don't use G2A, it's infamously shady and unreliable.
People say this but I've never had an issue in terms of reliability just look at the people who're rated as trustworthy though obviously, their prices are probably higher. Not sure what people mean about the shadiness though.

Jim Sterling has a set of videos that are pretty informative and funny.

Would consumerism exist in a Syndicalist economy?
One that that I have always found very interesting about the syndicalists in the KR world is that based on what we see and as reflected by in-game events such as if Ireland decide to go all out and invite EVERYONE to invest in their economy (Including the UoB and CoF), unlike the OTL USSR or most communist states, the syndicalists are actually good at producing genuinely high quality consumer goods that are at least as competitive against their capitalist counterparts from say Canada or Germany. In the aforementioned Irish event, for example, the UoB can actually set up an overseas branch of one of their automotive trade union operated car factory in Ireland, with it giving you just as much bonus civilian factories as a factory owned by a German corporation.

Plus, unless they go totalist, I don't think most syndicalist countries would end up being as overly focused on military and heavy industries as the OTL USSR was at the expense of civilian consumer good production. I am imagine something similar to OTL East Germany's 'consumer socialism' developing in the more developed syndicalist countries, in which the state tries to magnify the appeal of socialism by offering special consideration for the material needs of the working class in areas such as the availability of consumer goods. Maybe developing brand recognition as a means of encouraging workers at trade union co-ops to take pride in their work or something.

I dont see why consumerism wouldn't develop. The worker syndicates would presumably engage in less of the sort of scummy anti-consumer stuff that corporations do, but otherwise they would still make and sell products to the rest of the population, and if syndicalism is working like its supposed to the average worker has a lot more resources with which to buy things.

Hi.
So since I last posted here, I rejoined the KN team.
I’d like to inform everybody that KN is alive and well, and that we’re working on something big coming up soon. In the meanwhile, I thought I’d just mention that we are also working on Transmissions for China and Italy, and that the team has by no means gone into hibernation.
KRG, our sister mod, has also been doing some cool stuff - including a Russia Progress Report which you should check out, it’s really good!
And if yall have any KN questions, feel free to ask them here.

The Genocidal part, I don't know enough to judge... Seems to me though that Imperial Germany was not so different from the other colonial empires of the time, which rarely ever went genocidal. Did pretty dickish moves sure but that's a colonial empire for you.
Imperial Germany was many things, and it was most certainly genocidal - the Herero and Namaqua genocide, while billed as a suppression of native rebels, featured concentration camps and human experimentation. “Wholesome 100 Vorbeck” was ironically also involved in this, and the Kapp Putsch - an attempt by German nationalists and monarchists to overthrow the republican government in 1920.
Moreover, the Empire’s idea for Eastern Europe, especially the Baltics, echoed later rhetoric of Lebensraum - especially in the “Ober Ost”. And, yeah sure - one can argue that the French settlement of Algeria, Italian colonialism in Libya, Imperial Russian actions in Kazakhstan, British settlerism in Australia and so on were also things that happened - Britain, Russia, France, Italy, Spain, and pretty much every colonial empire did this shit. But that doesn’t make it acceptable, and colonial empires were very much genocidal.

I like the idea of this new update in that they are finally turning the two most commonly used recommended strategies when playing as the US, and making them into actual mechanics with in-lore justification, without it feeling too meta when it is the player doing so manually.
I personally dislike the first half, but the refinements to coring and state control are excellent improvements IMO.
