Kaiserreich: Legacy of the Weltkrieg

"Reduced the Union of Britain’s overall population to match the increase in Canada’s population, so the British Exiles actually came from somewhere "

Nice

Well that was a hassle and a half. Had to uninstall and reinstall HOI, and the same with my mods. What a joke.

At least now I can play KR as Glorious Fatherland of Puerto Rico!

Puerto Rico is fun if understandably limited, but man, something needs to be done to rebalance the 2ACW because the Reds keep on losing badly no matter who wins the Presidency. I can have Reed be elected after the GWB fails and pick focuses to strengthen Reed and weaken huey at every turn, and Huey still wins easily. What a joke.

So I saw a post on Reddit a few days ago that got me thinking and I can't seem to find again, and since Red Flood doesn't have a thread I'll ask here: the gist seemed to be that since Red Flood is a DBWI (where no one wins the Great War) in the Kaiserreich universe, there might be a DBWI in Red Flood where there's no war to begin with, so there's technically no losers. There wasn't any real detail but the suggestion seemed to be that because both Kaiserreich and Red Flood deal with obscure ideologies that never took off OTL, Geoism could take off in an alternate Great War. I thought it was an interesting idea, and reminded me a bit of Separated at Birth, and even a violent Geoist Revolution would seem pretty tame compared to what would be going on politically in-universe.

There is a hearts of iron mods thread made by Hindustani person, where I comment about red flood freely.

A mod I miss a lot is "A peace to end all peaces", from hoi2. That mod had this premise, the war still didn't exploded by 1936.

Puerto Rico looks fun, I'll have to try a quick playthrough with them.

I played the CSA for the first time in a while. I appreciated the new events and I've come to the conclusion that while "Commonwealth of America" is a cool name, the flag for the "Socialist Republic of America" is even cooler and thus I went with that and Norman Thomas for the interim years. If it makes you in particular feel any better, I didn't take the Business Unionist path and waited for Flynn before I settled on Syndicalist economics. ;) The rest of the game ended with me destroying the Entente and sitting back while the Europeans handled the Reichspakt. It's 1946 and the Third International (mostly orthodox syndies except for Sorelian France and her puppets) is pushing into the Russian Republic. Japan's on her last legs in Asia, and India STILL isn't reunified. It's been a fun playthrough, honestly.

While Garner siding with Long isn't in my direct headcanon, that's nonetheless what I did in this game, so I'll have to try another few playthroughs to confirm or deny this point of view.

1937-193X: John S. Reed
193X-1941: Norman Thomas (Seeing as he's Reed's VP, it makes some sense and is a nice compromise candidate for the early transition period.)
1941-1949: Elizabeth G. Flynn (Why not? There are so many other kickass choices, don't get me wrong, but still.)
1949-1953: ??? (undecided, might come back to edit this later)
1953-1961: Bayard Rustin (How about a black leader of America fifty-five years ahead of OTL?)

"X" referring to an unspecified year in the late 1930s whenever the Civil War is hopefully over.

On another topic, I'm honestly surprised how nobody pointed out that Lucille Ball (yes, that Lucille Ball) can be a spy for any faction in the Second American Civil War, and how the Reddit seems mildly focused on T. E. Lawrence being a double agent for Canada and the Union of Britain.

Really pissed at the change to Lawrence. The "Lawrence brings back the King" path was always my least favorite KR path and this move towards reinforcing that storyline is just frustrating and annoying.

I'm imagining all the leaders of the Civil War finding out that she’s been double-crossing and even triple-crossing all of them and the leaders screaming “That goddamned redhead!” when they all find out. But it’s too late by then because she already got away and is on a beach in Hawaii drinking coconuts alongside Jack Malone.

Savinkov Russia: Every. Single. Time. I'm guilty of using this framework myself, but it gets so repetitive. I know the Russia Rework lore is up in the air, but there has to be some variation we can work with, right? They even have Savinkov ruling Russia in the "blessed" peace for everyone timeline of episode 3. What is this ridiculousness?

I feel ya on the rest, but this one is kinda necessary? The 2nd weltkrieg is kinda pitiful without a militaristic Russia joining in.

That's probably true, and I agree that the Russian State presents the current best thematic-narrative option for a militaristic Russia. However, even though Russia's lore is still up in the air, I still would like to see some variation on which Russia pressures Germany and Japan. Savinkov is one approach and I'm personally fairly skeptical of the Tsarist restoration options in general, but I'm intrigued by some of the other militarist paths that I rarely see. Kornilov, Denikin, and Wrangel all pose intriguing paths that could be reworked into engaging variations on a White movement'-led Russian militarist state. One could go Stratocratic (~Russian MacCaesar), another could go FULL REVANCHISM, and yet another could work off of the pragmatic path we see in the current focus tree. We could even see additional White movement figures rise to prominence, in keeping with Kaiserreich's theme of focusing on historical figures left to the wayside in OTL [1]. Overall a militarist Russia does fit well into the Kaiserreich narrative, I just think different versions of militarism besides Notzis could add to the replay value. Even in AARs (i.e. Crown Atomic) and Sequel mods (i.e. Kalterkreig, Krasnacht) you only see Savinkov. I'll gladly wait until the rework, but we should definitely see new options.

Did you prefer that characterization?

No, I hate that kind of stuff a lot.

People are different and act different, when the Latin American update came and I saw the first carles playthrough, the youtuber saw that carles was a natpop and had a expansion tree, this he said "Ah, so he's is kaiserreich Hitler!", And this was as cringe as when I saw a Brazilian youtuber calling the ppsh41 as a shotgun.

Sure. Detaching from the whole direct parallelism route frees the narrative to tread new ground and helps avoid the kind of predictability that makes the scenario dull faster. For example, I personally think forcing the 2nd Weltkreig to kickoff the same way at the same time (1939, what a coincidence) to be somewhat limiting.

Also ppsh41 as a shotgun and Carles = Hitler are super cringe. my disgust is immeasurable and my day is ruined :noexpression:.

This was not the worse thing I have seen,

The worst comes from this Brazilian youtuber Zangado, he reviews games, trilogies and series of games, and he sometimes completely botch the description of a certain game.

One of terror histories of his channel, it's one of the largest Brazilian gaming channels I just say, was when he was reviewing the call of duty series, and he didn't had played cod 1, so he got a random clip on the background while he described the game, and he said that when he played (he did not), he liked that you didn't had a health bar like on other games, and the footage he took randomly was explaining how to fill your health bar with healtpacks when you are hurt.

Years later he made a review of the serious San series and said how he disliked that this certain game of the series took place on another planets by he disliked the "fact" that this other planets were unimaginative and looked more like other eras of the human history on earth, and at the same time he was saying that the footage he took randomly showed the plot of the game and that you needed to travel through history, not through the space, and at the same time he said that these other "planets" were unimaginative you could see the selection screen in the background asking where he would live to visit in the antiquity... I eventually unsubscribed as he made his fallout review, since I had sent the plot on his inbox and he again botched it claiming that the war was between the russian republic and normal PRC and the USA, not the extended life USSR, still Maoist China and the European federation.

Sounds like a bad gaming critic. I haven't played most of these games, but botching Fallout lore is unforgivable.
