I'm just excited because of the preview image implying you'll be able to get Xianyu as Empress of the Qing. Honestly I feel like the China rework is the last major hurdle KR has to jump to be a full experience. I guess 1.0 can rework stuff like India and the Ottomans.

While I'm largely happy with this, I am a bit disappointed with the fact that we can't take the USAS name and flag without going Vanguardist. It's clearly the best, the others just look too milquetoast or nondescriptive.
I guess they're just worried it'll be too on the nose otherwise. The USSR parallels only work if you go Totalist. You're right about the flags though. Shame there's only three to choose from.
Fair enough, I see the point, I just find "Union of Socialist American States" to be better than the painfully generic "Socialist Republic of America" and the nondescriptive "Commonwealth of America."
I mean you're not wrong. Also, from a Poli-Sci perspective, I feel that Commonwealth and Republic are too interchangeable. Historically, the terms practically both just mean representative democracy.
Personally I like Commonwealth of America the best. Its also a nod to the fact that in a number of IWW songs they referred to a commonwealth. Of course this is just my personal opinion.
My personnal ranking of the various factions of the American Civil War, from Best to Worse:
Federal Government that avoids the Civil War - Definitely the best outcome, no questions asked.
Federal Government that wins the Civil War - Democracy is preserved but damaged.
Progressive PSA - Basically one the same level as a victorious Federal Government for me. What makes the difference is that you need McArthur to make his coup to have the PSA...
Republican PSA - They seem to be making less reforms than the Progressives, but they still do a lot.
Farmer-Labor PSA - A bit too socialist for my tastes, but I don't really have anything bad to say about it apart from that.
Democrat PSA - McCarthist America. That's a bit too conservative for my tastes.
Commonwealth of Labor - Definitely too socialist for my tastes but it doesn't seem to completely get rid of Democracy.
Long's American Union State - A well-intentionned Dictatorship.
McArthur Dictatorship - That's just Fascist America.
Business Plot American Union States - McArthur is a Fascist but at least he's got the army and they're promoting Merit. That's not much but when compared to Ploutocrats who only care about money...
United Socialist States of America - It reminds me too much of OTL USSR... So I'm pretty much expecting an American Stalin to show up.

I really like the term Commonwealth, however, I'd add in something else too. Maybe the Syndicated Commonwealth of America? Otherwise it gets awkward when you go to war with Canada and the Commonwealth is at war with the Commonwealth. I'm really not a huge fan of "Socialist Republic of America" and I'd personally go with either the Socialist Federation of America or the Syndicated Republic of America.
Alas, I suppose my HOI4 Kaiserreich experience will have to remain incomplete until Paradox adds or someone makes a submod allowing us to the personalize country names. In all honesty the Syndies should have "Union of American People's Republics" or the "Commonwealth of American Communes" while the Rad-Socs should either retain the USA but with a Market Socialist economy or the "United American Commonwealth"
