Kaiser Adolf?

I'm not sure how popular returning to monarchy was in post-war Germany, but how could we get a situation where Hitler becomes the new Kaiser? Is it ASB?

It would not make him more popular, that's for sure. He'd get the opposition of the anti-monarchy folk and almost all of the monarchists (he wasn't even a noble, let alone of royal blood!).

I suppose he could have called himself kaiser instead of fuhrer; but why? He had the power of an absolute monarch anyway.

I guess I misphrased it. I'm not trying to see if Hitler as Kaiser is possible, but rather, could Germany have returned to monarchy in the 30s, possibly under the Nazis?

I somehow doubt the Western Allies would like this. Perhaps this would be the straw that broke the Camel's back, and starts a war over Czechloslovakia. After the war, we probably see something like the arrangment reached over the Japanese emperor, giving legitimacy to the allies. Or not, if he activly aided Hitler.

We might also see the kaiser reestablished during the 4 power occupation. Not sure how to bring this about, though.

That would go too far for the Allies. They would most probally either invade or begin to take a harsher stance toward Germany.

it's ASB. Hitler hated the monarchs, and had he won he planned to have all the royal families of Europe killed.

And, his political ideology was that of "rescuing" the volk from both the republic and the monarchy, forging an entirely new and different dictatorial and racist system. Naming himself Kaiser would clash with that, if anything.
