Ka-Ching: A Donald Trump Timeline

Ka-Ching: A Donald Trump Timeline

October was debate time and Trump spent much of his time, when not campaigning practicing . Many commentors predicted that Obama would easily beat Trump in all three debates but Trump was eager to prove this was not the case. Also Guilliani's critics became more vocal, people on the right such as Rick Santorum openly critized Trump's choice because he was pro abortion but it would not prove to be a national issue. A major theme of the Trump campaign became the slogan " You built it " in opposition to what Obama claimed when he said " If you've got a business you didn't build that ". This theme proved moderately popular with the public and they agreed on Trump's stance on the economy. In October the first debate came and Trump fought Obama fiercely. The two men argued with each other but at the end of the night many commentators thought Trump had edged out Obama to win the debate. Later many commented that they thought the president was asleep and tired. The debate failure by Obama meant he and the Democrats lost much needed momentum but that didn't stop the race looking like a victory for Obama.

Ramussen Poll 4th October

Barack Obama 51%

Donald Trump 46%

Ka-Ching: A Donald Trump Timeline

The final months of the Presidential Campaign passed quickly. Guilliani narrowly beat Joe Biden in the Vice-Presidential debate as many saw Biden's tactic of constant laughter annoying. In the Next debates Obama was quite lively and demolished Trump in the Foreign Policy debate by simply saying " Three Words, Osama Bin Laden". Trump had no counter attack. The other debate was a draw. Trump's campaign also failed to respond to the Bengazi Incident not using it to their advantage as much as they could have. In New Hampshire and Florida Trump was losing by 4% and as much as 8% in Nevada, Colorado, Wisconsin and Iowa and Virginia. New York supported Trump a lot more than expected but no way was he going to win the state. North Carolina and Ohio were the only swing states that were even moderately close with auto workers in Ohio lending some of their support to Trump. As election day came the answer was obvious who was going to win but no one knew by how much. On the day Obama made a last minute gaffe saying off camera " The world doesn't need Cleveland Ohio" while Trump sat silently in his New York HQ. The results started to slowly come in with the swing states going to Obama. Nevada and Colorado went into the Obama column as well as Michigan, New Hampshire and Wisconsin. In Michigan the last minute Cleveland comment by Obama made some difference but not enough to cement an Obama win. However Ohio swung for Trump quite early, his business experience probably making the difference although he was definitely helped by Obama's gaffe. Obama had won the election although there were recounts to be held in Florida and North Carolina. Trump conceded and another chapter in the businessman's career was over. In the end Florida and North Carolina went to Trump but it was not enough to prevent an Obama victory.

Thanks for reading this, I will quickly explain that polls in Florida wer inaccurate and that low turnout meant a narrow Trump win in the state.

And now for my FH, I will post a link here later
