Twp parts to this question really

1: As the title says just how secure were the Soviet lines back to the USSR in time of war ?

2: Just how sure were the Soviets of their WP allies?

I suspect the answer is far from 100% however what do others think?

Q1. During mid-late '43 is when the German Wehrmacht was really at the very edge of it millitarally in Russia. Before then the Russians had been main on the retreat which had made getting the right supplies to the right locations fairly difficult for the Soviets.

By '43 this situation was changing and the offensive conducted after this were supplied enough now that the munitions factories past the Urals were pumping out the weapons needed to get to the front.

Furthermore the Germans had not been able to change all the rain line gauges to their own, meaning that Russian supplies could get through fairly well...and without partisans making it massively difficult. Although one must release the Russian troops weren't always 'liberators' coming back through Russia, and there was rape and pillage from the Russians on Russians as well during this period.

As the Soviets moved into eastern Poland, as the front shrunk it was much easer to move supplies as the German airforce was all but defeated and the distance between rail depot and front has shrunk quite a bit. Furthermore the logistics experience was peaking as the war rolled onto its final phases.

In general the Russian logistics performed better than the Germans logistics, but not everywhere, all the time. It is a complex answer that is best described with different answers for different points during the war.

Q2. Assuming I understand your poor grammar correctly...very/rather.

What you must understand is that when the Soviets 'liberated' eastern Europe they just installed their own friendly puppet governments with individuals of a pro-russian/communist sentiment.

The people of these nations got very little say in the matter, and the Soviet secret police were very good at eliminating political dissidents or resistance.

Look up what happened to Poland after the soviets liberated it. Its a good case study for what was going on in eastern Europe.
