Just a crazy idea I just had.

In 1965, Elvis Presley met with the Beatles, and they played a few songs together. Now, here is the POD: someone decided to bring a recorder with them. Now, when the King and the Fab Four begin playing together, the person with the recorder begins recording the things they play. After departing, said person releases the recordings for publicity for both Elvis and the Beatles. People love it, and they want to see an Elvis-Beatles concert.

This first comes in 1969.

Woodstock.

Thoughts? Even Possible?

Elvis at Woodstock? Nah, remember he was in the army. And I wouldn't call what he played hippy music, not really.

Not even for publicity (in Elvis' case) or because an Elvis-Beatles joint concert might be incredibly popular at that point(in the case of the hippies)?

I don't know about a performance, BUT...

An Elvis and The Beatles collaboration in the studio, on the other hand...

Maybe not Woodstock.. but it's not entirely unreasonable.

From 1968, there's a "back to basics" movement going on in rock.. a move away from some of the psychedelic excesses of the past couple of years - witness The Beatles own 'Let It Be' album, the rise of 'rootsy' bands such as The Band, and Elvis's very own 1968 comeback special.

If Elvis & The Beatles got it together for a one-off concert (or a small tour, say half-a-dozen selected cities, at most) it could be interesting...

Maybe the Beatles could even get close to Elvis, and convince him his manager is very, VERY bad. That would also do wonders for Elvis' career, and maybe butterfly his death.

That sounds sooo cool. Not sure it would have happened at Woodstock but I'd loved to have seen Paul McCartney and Elvis duetting on 'Helter Skelter', that would have been a moment.

Indeed, that would have been awesome. I WANT A TL DAMN IT!

a little crazier idea

November 1971: Elvis Presley is playing a few concerts at Lake Tahoe.
He and his entourage have an after-show party. Also attending are the three remaining members of the Doors. Ray Manzarek doses the King with some acid. Densmore, Krieger, Manzarek and the suddenly suggestible Presley sneak past the Memphis Mafia and giggle their way into the mountains. The Doors rent a cabin and proceed to counter-culturalize Presley. Elvis agrees to be the new lead singer of the Doors and they fly to Panama where they record their new album, Full Circle, using some of Jim's poetry. Elvis has not communicated with Priscilla or The Colonel in over two months. Suddenly on Jan 1, 1972, Bill Graham announces that the Doors will play a nationwide tour
with their new lead singer, Elvis Presley. Yes, Elvis as the LIZARD KING!
