Joseph Brant and British Agents Captured

Calling Brant a "British agent" seems a little weird. I mean, he was pro-British but he was a war leader, not a spy.

That said - the Congress had pretty much no guys out on the frontier. They tended to be actively indifferent to the whole war: too busy staying alive. If the Congress... somehow... got more popular support out on the frontier and managed to capture Brant et al the probable response is more of the Iroquois go pro-British, because the frontiersmen have just effectively declared war on them. I doubt very much this would make a huge difference, besides turning the whole Northwest / Butler's Rangers / guerilla war into more of a Godawful bloodbath then it already was, but it might have some effects on the post-war boundaries (Quebecois Champlain Valley? Upper Canadian Upper New York?) and probably make Tecumseh's job a lot easier a generation later.

If anything I'd think that this would help the Americans out a bit as the Natives weren't really trusting the British to much. I mean they did lean towards the Brits naturally but I think they were still suspicious towards all white men. I know Brant had a major hand in stopping Henry Clark's attempt on Detroit. Maybe this gets farther along not necessarily succeeding but maybe. I can honestly see more Indians staying neutral without these men helping the Brits, at least until 1779 if Clark succeeds in taking Detroit.

Personaly what I see is basically the inter-tribal wars exploding. Seneca and Cherokee/Creek forces supported by the "american" forces being recruited to raid the 5 Nations. The biggest thing to me is how the impacts of the just concluded French-Indian wars simer into a full out western raiding/pillaging warfare which in turn I think eliminates alot of the safe havens in the west and both British and American forces would suffer many more casualities.

Better reconanisance, higher threats to supply lines and random raids away from the main theaters would hurt recruitment and supplys for both forces. Eventually this could lead to a split where the southern colonies succedd but the northern colonies remain British based upon support of different First Nation groups and slavery.

Anywho...need to get back into some of my history books for better explanations.
