This Rolling Stones hit had a raw emotional component that fit Janis Joplins musical style. Jager usually performed it in a tight spare and deliberate arrangement.
Few others covered this song in a notable way, except for Johnny Winters who often covered it in the 1960s & 70s. Winters version had a faster tempo, was looser, and was done as more of a rocker arrangement.
Question here is which would Joplins cover have been closer too? Her musical roots & ongoing influences were closer to Winters, but her obsessive perfectionism may have led her to a tighter controlled delivery a la Jager
