jonas savimbi leads angola

what if jonas savimbi led angola. this is certainly possible, but chances were lost due to impulsive mistakes he has made. his forces were arguably the most discipline and without cuban intervention his triumph seems likely. how would angola look like under him? he was no doubt highly intelligent, but also impulsive and irrational.

It would probably have to be either a complete Cuban/FAPLA collapse at Cuito Cuanavale and the Tumpo Triangle in 1988 or something well into the 90s, probably with an MPLA collapse in 1993 and possibly making sure Clonton doesn't switch sides. Savimbi was undoubtedly one of the best guerrilla commanders of the 20th century, but I don't think he would have faired very well in anything less than complete UNITA dominance of the Angolan government.

What would a UNITA regime look like?
