John Wilkes Booth fails

What does it take for any individual to be born? If Lincoln was not assasinated would the existence of almost everybody in the USA if not the world be butterflied away?

It all depends on how great or small the Butterfly Effect to be and how swift or slow you believe that it spreads from the point of the POD around the globe. Certainly, IMO, with this particular POD, no one alive today, nearly 148 years later, would exist.

I see people sometimes butterflying away people minimally affected by the POD. For example, if your POD is 1780 with the ARW, that wouldn't necessarily butterfly away Daniel Webster (b. 1782), would it? However, once you get some 50-odd years later, most people are butterflied if not all. A significant amount of people are butterflied away quite soon, in less then ten years. Basically, Abraham Lincoln surviving kills off everyone who was born later than, say, 1900. Most likely, anyway.

I expect it kills off almost everyone concieved after April 1865. Any of us could have been killed off by a car backfiring outside our parents' bedroom window.
