John of Eltham

What if in 1328, Edward III suffers a mishap and ends up dying because of it, and his brother John of Eltham becomes King John II, what happens then? Does he marry his brother's widow Phillipa? Or someone else?

How would he deal with Roger Mortimer and his mother, as well as the situation in Scotland, as well as with his brother's former vassals? As well as the situation within Gascony.

Well Philipa is still avaliable and is handy having the support of William I, Count of Hainaut.

Other Brides
- Isabella of Valois, 15 years old, sister of Philip VI, first French King of the Valois Dynasty.
- Eleanor of Lancaster, daughter of Henry, 3rd Earl of Lancaster.
- Marie of Blois, daughter of Guy I, Count of Blois and sister of Charles, whom through his marriage to Joanna, would become Duke of Brittany, in OTL this lead to the War of the Breton Succession, between Kingdom of France supporting House of Blois and the Kingdom of England supporting House of Montfort, whereas if John II married Marie, would he support his brother-in-law over his country men?

Following his father victory, in the Despenser War, John II would be forced to keep Roger Mortimer at bay.
As for his mother, Isabella, is a traitor to the English throne, and is a potenial threat, if she has a son with Roger, so if he kills Roger, then put her in a convent under the control of a loyalist commander.

Hmm interesting, well considering Edward II had abdicated by 1327, and his brother was crowned king then, and in this timeline died in 1328, Edward II was somewhat of a non entity by then, Mortimer and Isabella were the power holders. So I suppose they might make him marry Philippa
