To be honest, I know little about John Keats or his poetry. But I just read The Keats Brothers, by Denise Gigante, and was curious to hear what other people more knowledgeable about the subject might think about my question.

In 1818, George Keats, the younger brother of the poet, and his wife emigrated from London to, eventually, Louisville, Kentucky. He became a prosperous businessmen there and after a brief visit back in 1820, never returned to England.

My question is whether or not John Keats may have followed, if consumption hadn't taken hold of him, and how he might have fared in the wilds of the New World? (Weirdly, I haven't been able to find anything about this in the search engine.) Is it possible that he might have become the first great port of the Americas or if he would have wasted away in obscurity?
