John Adams: Women's Rights Activist

Abagail Adams wanted more rihts for women. Her husband was president. Could she have gotten him to do something?

Did John Adams have enough enough clout as president to get a bill, or amendment, to get suffrage for women through? Would women have voted to keep John Adams in office as a thank you in 1800? Women and blacks kinda teamed up in the mid-1800s to help each other get more rights. In this TL, could women really kick off the abolitionist movement with their votes?

The question of "who got to vote" in those days was NOT in the hands of the President and/or Federal Congress, it was in the hands of each individual state. It was only after the Civil War that the Federal Government, in the 14th Amendment, gained the right to intervene in a state to secure civil rights.
