Overall Synopsis:
Jin Roh is a dystopic anime film set in an alternate Japan where the latter was part of the Allies, Germany won WWII, and the United States remained neutral. Post-war Japan embarks on an aggressive economic program intended to stimulate a quick recovery. While the program is a success, the subsequent income inequality causes crime and far-left terrorism to skyrocket, leaving normal police outmatched. In response, the government establishes a heavily armed paramilitary force in order to protect the country, known formally as The Metropolitan Security Police Organization, informally as the Kerberos Unit. Using increasingly repressive methods to stay one step ahead of terrorists, the Kerberos Unit finds itself under fire from public opinion, a feeling that only increases as the economic situation improves and the aforementioned terrorists become less and less of a concern. Under this backdrop, the Kerberos Unit finds itself fighting to maintain relevancy in a society that no longer needs or wants it.

While this thread is named for the fantastic 1999 anime film, the franchise surrounding it has been around since 1987, with the release of the live action movie The Red Spectacles, which was followed by the 1991 film Stray Dog: Kerberos Panzer Cops. Aside from this trilogy, a series of comics and manga volumes were released and a 2018 film called Illang: Wolf Brigade was made in South Korea as a total remake and setting overhaul of Jin Roh, taking place under the backdrop of Korean re-unification.

Jin Roh can be watched here free of charge.

So, with all that being said, who else here has seen the movie(s)? As an alternate history setting it's obviously quite implausible, but these elements are secondary to what I consider the movie's masterful story telling abilities.
