JFK's Voice After Failed Assassination

I'm in desperate need of anyone who has medical knowledge here. My former medical expert has long since been banned, so I'm up a river here.

If Kennedy had been shot, but had avoided the head shot, would his voice have been affected and in what ways would it be so? The bullet did travel out through the base of his neck, leading me to ask that question since I don't know if the vocal cords and voice box were affected or damaged.

Remaining on this topic but going to a different area, how would the damage have healed and how would the wound have healed? I'm interested in if you'd notice a bullet wound on the neck while Kennedy was wearing clothing.

well, in context, you could always make the POD be that Oswald's bullet is a few millimeters to the left or right from where it hit IOTL, with the immediate butterflies being that the second bullet misses and Kennedy consequently lives. you could then try to look up cases of other people who were shot in the neck and survived and see what happened to their voices for reference. i do that kind of thing occasionally concerning some of my own timelines and other writing projects (for instance, i looked up a few cases of temporary amnesia resulting from concussions in order to find a realistic way for a character in one of the books i'm writing to keep from spilling the beans about the Big Bad until later)

On a somewhat related note, Wife was wondering if Lincoln could of survived with the medical tech of today? I dont think so but was wondering. docfl

I suggest making a new thread in non-political chat on this subject.
