Personally, I think you need to rework the whole World War III section. A lot of other people have addressed the problem of nukes, but what jumped out at me right away was the part where Japan goes neutralist and expels U.S. forces. This is close to ASB in 1975, in my opinion; if nothing else, the U.S. would exert TREMENDOUS diplomatic pressure on Tokyo to head off such an outcome. Japan is simply too important to the U.S.'s strategic position in Asia; if it loses access to Japanese bases and industry, it can't support South Korea worth a damn. So I think that needs to be taken out.
