Hi!
Consider the following WI. Jesus, with the same intelligence and abilities as he has in OTL, is born in AD 45 instead of 4 BC.
He receives the same education as in OTL, sees evidence of corruption in the priesthood, and starts formulating new ideas about religion. However, he's reluctant to start preaching at first because he's worried he'll be targeted by the authorities and/or he has to support his father.
Then, at age 25, he witnesses the destruction of the Temple (which still happens) and is exiled with the rest of his community. This tragedy opens the floodgates and he decides he has to preach. He still considers himself Jewish and sees himself as one of the few religious authorities left in his community. He's also less likely to get into trouble with the Jewish authorities as the authorities have either been dispersed or killed?
How would his ministry have evolved in exile?
One of the arguments he could have used is that the destruction of the Temple was God punishing corruption and that love is the way to go.
