Jesus Christ Assassinated!

Wasn't it Saint Paul who basically created the early Christian anti-women stuff? I dunno, I was never a very devoted Catholic :D
 
Well, that depends on the version - some early Christian texts denounce both institutions. But the point was more general - that all these religious movements drew people away from traditional Greek and Roman religion. I suspect some of these people were open to new religions because they weren't getting what they needed from the traditional religions.

Not all these religious movements "drew people away" from the traditional beliefs. As I said, some gods just became part of a wider pantheon.

This phrase "they weren't getting what they needed", from the older religions, gets thrown around a lot. What is that supposed to mean?
