Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine) has a happy marriage

I know, this is kind of strange for a POD. However, look at this from Jeri's Wiki page. She gets married, has a son, and gets divorced. Her ex-husband then runs for political office. Then this happens.
----------
On June 18, 2004, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Robert Schnider agreed to release the custody files.[31] The decision generated much controversy, because it went against both parents' direct request and reversed the decision to seal the papers in the best interest of the child. It was revealed that six years earlier, Jeri had accused Jack Ryan of asking her to <not PG> [34]Jack denied these allegations. Although Jeri only made a brief statement,[35] and she refused to comment on the matter during the campaign, the document disclosure led Jack to withdraw his candidacy;[36][37] his main opponent, Barack Obama, then won the 2004 United States Senate election in Illinois.[38]

It looks like a POD involving Seven of Nine could give us a different President. Thoughts?

Ryan was trailing from the day after the primaries so while Obama's margin wouldn't have been so enormous and he would have had a somewhat lower status upon entering the Senate he would still have been a Senator and he would already delivered his DNC address that really set the ball rolling. Now of course the opportunity for butterflies is an enormous in 4 years but Obama wouldn't have been in a worse position than OTL

You know, before Obama caught fire that year, the Republicans were trying to recruit Mike Ditka, and he was thinking about.

As the Superfans can tell you, Ditka could beat Gad, so he'd beat Obamma too.

Daaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh Bearsssssssss!

"In 2004, polling firm SurveyUSA did a head-to-head poll between Ditka and Obama that showed Obama had a 7-point lead over Ditka. Those seven points came when Obama was still a relatively unknown state senator and before his career-defining speech at the Democratic convention that September. A the time, Obama was an up-and-coming political star, and Iron Mike was a fading sports legend looking for something to do." https://www.nbcchicago.com/blogs/ward-room/Ditka-Beating-Obama-Cmon--227252091.html

If you're looking for a plausible POD for Obama not being elected a US Senator in 2004, there's a very easy one: Have Carol Moseley Braun announce she will be running for her old Senate seat. Obama would not have run for it in that event.
