Japanese reach Arabia

Okay so this stretches the bounds of plausibility and logistics to the max but is it possible for the Japanese to get even a toe hold in Saudi Arabia or the various Emirates?

If so how could be done?

If not why not?

Nuclear war in 1962, the Soviet Union and China are demolished while the US is weakened. Japan becomes the second most powerful country in the world. After budget cuts to the US overseas presence, and a change in focus to keeping order in the 50 states and western Europe, the US allows Japan to take over the US occupation in South Korea and Taiwan. By the 1990s Japan is the second superpower and makes interventions into the Middle East to stabilize the petroleum market.

The Allies do worse in WWI than OTL and are desperate to save France from collapse.

Britain gives Japan bases in the Middle East in exchange for troops and material, similar to the "Destroyers for Bases" Agreement with the US in WWII.

IMHO with a POD of December 1941 it's near impossible due to insufficient shipping and not enough ground troops. However, if they did have enough of both to make a landing in the Middle East the target would probably be the British naval base at Aden. In this situation the Japanese would have taken Ceylon and possibly Madagascar first.

The Ceylon, Madagascar and Aden operations would probably be in the second half of 1942. Therefore the Japanese need to have inflicted crushing defeats on the US Navy at the Coral Sea and Midway as a prerequisite to their Indian Ocean campaign.

I can see two possible reasons why they would want to do it in the first place. The first is to isolate India. The second is due to more co-ordination between the members of the Axis. That is the Japanese support the Germans and Italians by cutting the supply line to the BEC Forces in the Middle East and the UK off from a major source of its oil.

In bid to the deny the Allies access to Middle-Eastern oil, Japan launches a bold and daring (i.e: idiotically suicidal) naval invasion of the Arab Peninsula...

It is repelled in less than a month and is remembered as one of the most pathetic failures of history.

u.s. occupation of south korea and taiwan? semantics aside, japan assuming that mission will go over as well as the proverbial fart in church; in all three countries.

as a future to this type of scenario of germans and japanese meeting up somewhere in south asia/mid east and setting up a demarcation line, then at some point relations turn bad to worse to conflict; how would germans react to japanese tactics during and after battle?
