Japanese Find A Purple Machine.

In 1941, the United States lent Britain two 'purple' cipher machines, one of which was sent to Singapore, despite the freighter carrying it claimed it delivered the machine, the port authorities denied ever having received it. The British were unable to retrieve it or find it's whereabouts and it's final fate is still unknown to this day. It was possibly destroyed by a demolition team before the surrender of Singapore. But what would have happened if the Japanese after having taken Singapore found this lost purple machine? How would this have affected the outcome of the war? Could Japan have figured out it's codes had been broken? If Japan reconfigured it's codes could they have achieved surprise at the battle of Midway and won the engagement?
