Japanese Empire after WW2

This is probably a stupid thing to ask... but here I go.

After (lightly) reading on the Treaty of San Francisco and what happened to Japan following WW2, I wonder how large the amount of resentment was towards the U.S., Soviet Union, and former territories in Japan.

Could the Japanese have rebuilt something resembling there old Empire (land wise). Would the U.S. have let the Japanese regain strength if they thought it could help them against the USSR in East Asia and the Pacific?

Short of a nuclear war wiping out the US, Western Europe, the USSR and most of China... seems impossible.

There was a thread here a few months back dealing with something very similar, a militarized Japan post WWII, IIRC. I proposed not having the Sino-Soviet split.

Even if the Sino-Soviet split still occurred the Chinese were still a Communist country.

Maybe Japan offers to send troops to Korea and Vietnam?

They would not have been welcome.

Not by the Koreans or Vietnamese obviously, but maybe by the Americans who though they could keep up support for the war at home if it was Japanese bodies coming back instead of just American one?

Another idea I had was Russia openly declaring for North Korea during the Korean War. Might spook the US into allowing the Japanese to remilitarize.

What about Japans Navy after WW2? Assuming that they somehow were aloud to re-militarize how long would it take for Japan to rebuild its Navy which was once third best in the world?

Allowing Japan to remilitarize is a completely seperate and doable matter, unlike the OP that's calling for Japan having an Empire once again.

How about North Korea won the war? Then Japan would have a whole communist country pointing at her belly.

That's doable to get Japan to remilitarize, but the OP wasn't get Japan to rearm, it was get Japan to carve out it's Empire again after losing it all.... not gonna happen...

That would be the greatest gift in the history of propaganda.
