The first POD is that Paul V. McNutt, during his tenure as High Commissioner of the Philippines 1937-1939, persuades Congress to fully fund the Filipino Military. The second POD happens in early November 1941. An American Military Attache, who is visiting the Japanese Ministry of the Navy, finds a copy of the attack plans for December 7, wrapped around a pair of cigars. On December 7, 1941, Japanese fighter plans find the fleets have been evacuated and the air is full of enemy planes. The Royal Navy and RAF help the British Army keep hold of Malaya. The US Navy and Army Air Corps helped the Filipino Army resist the Japanese Invasion. Because the Japanese made Singapore and the Philippines their priority, Commonwealth forces were able to win control of the entire island of New Guinea by July 1942. This helped preserve the supply line to the Philippines. This was helpful in August 1942, when massive US reinforcements arrived in the Philippines. By November 1942, the Philippines had been cleared of Japanese forces. The Allied priority became taking the war closer to Japan. The Mariana Islands fell in February 1943. The Allies took control of Iwo Jima in May 1943. By mid August, Okinawa fell. In December 1943, expedited production of the B 29, allowed for bombing of the Japanese Home Islands to begin. After eleven months of devastating bombing and suffering from a crippling Allied blockade, Hirohito, fearful of a revolt, surrenders on November 10. 1944. In March 1945, Pacific Theater veterans arrive in the European Theater. On April 12, WAllied forces take Prague. On April 24, Berlin surrenders to WAllies. After the war, China, Korea and Indo China are occupied by WAllied force. Mao does not come to power. There is no Korean or Vietnam War. The US enjoys decades of peace. There is no draft. There are no US bases in Europe. So if you are the child of a member of the American Armed Services and a European, you do not exist. If you are the child or grandchild of someone who babied out of the Vietnam War, you do not exist. The other part of the World that sees changes is Czechoslovakia. Which ceases to exist in 1945. There is a not so velvet divorce, as Soviet occupied Slovakia breaks away. Germany does not change. The occupation zones were already agreed on before WAllies took Berlin.
