So.........since there is so much interest in the CPs and WWI on the board these days, I would be interested in knowing what the concensus is on Japan jumping on board with Hohenzollern Germany. It seems that both powers had common cause (felt that they were being denied their place in the sun and all that). Now, I would like to suggest that it is a secret treaty, so Japan can still appear to be chummy w/Britain.

Japan still wins against Russia in 1905 (that is not changed)
Japanese and German East Asian squadron sail together.
Japanese troops bolster Germans in Tsingtao, KWland, maybe a few in Samoa.

Germany points out that Britain and France have much wealthier, tastier bits to gobble up than Germany does so:

Japan wants all or part of Indochina, northern Sakhalin, greater influence in China (maybe outright annexation).

An active Japan probably means no ANZAC troops for Europe, so waltzing Mathilda stays in the Pacific (or not? what do you think?)

Just prior to the declaration of war, Germany sends a few pre - dreadnought battleships, maybe a battlecruiser and some destroyers to bolster Von Spee.
